International Training on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Analysis for Disease Outbreak Investigation

The study of spatio-temporal disease distribution is a fundamental aspect of epidemiology, as neglecting spatial and temporal dimensions can lead to significant biases and misinterpretations. This course introduced the basic principles of geographical information systems (GIS) and spatio-temporal analysis, highlighting their value in improving the precision of both qualitative and quantitative assessments of disease outbreaks.

International Training on Basic Gene Cloning, Protein Expression and Purification

The workshop was organized by VPHCAP, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Japan, and was honored to feature Prof. Dr. Hisao Kurazono and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kayo Okumura from Obihiro University, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangporn Pichpol and Dr. Warangkhana Chaisowwong from Chiang Mai University, as instructors.

Culling Practices, Disposal Approaches and Compensation Policies for Poultry Disease Control in Lower Mekong

The Regional Meeting on Culling Practices, Disposal Approaches, and Compensation Policies for Poultry Disease Control in the Lower Mekong was held on 20–21 July 2017 at the Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square Hotel, Thailand. The meeting brought together 15 participants from government and private sectors representing five Lower Mekong countries: Thailand, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Cambodia.

VPHCAP, in collaboration with the Excellent Center of Veterinary Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, organized a workshop on “Practical Data Layout and Format for Statistical Analysis” on 18–19 May 2017 at Room F402, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University. The workshop aimed to provide both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice in structuring data for statistical analysis using spreadsheets.

Every April, Thailand—and several other Southeast Asian countries—celebrates Songkran, the traditional New Year according to the lunar calendar. Beyond traveling home to visit family, many Thais mark the occasion by making merit together at temples, beginning the year with a sense of goodness and joy.

7th Batch MVPH Proposal Presentation Workshop

The first thesis proposal presentation workshop for the 7th batch of MVPH students was held on 24 March 2017. The workshop aimed to provide a platform for students, lecturers, and researchers to exchange knowledge and discuss research topics, objectives, and methodologies related to veterinary public health issues at the global, national, and international levels, with an emphasis on EcoHealth and One Health.

Global Health Institute – Thailand 2017

Global Health Institute – Thailand 2017 showcased international collaboration between two OIE Collaborating Centres for Veterinary Services Capacity Building: the Center for Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS), University of Minnesota, and the Veterinary Public Health Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), along with the Excellent Center of Veterinary Public Health at Chiang Mai University.
