Nowadays, food safety and transboundary zoonotic diseases have been discussed widely. Changing of lifestyles, namely, behavior of consumption, livestock raising patterns, antimicrobial using trend, worldwide traveling, international trading, and so on, is a factor that cause impact of public health and economics worldwide. For this reason, increasing knowledge and practice on managing food safety and transboundary zoonotic issues are also crucial due to currently increased awareness of human on those issues. The 4th Food Safety and Zoonoses Symposium for Asia Pacific was conducted in order to seek for collaborations both local, regional and country to develop the new body of knowledge in veterinary public health, food safety of the international animal origin and trade that need skills and knowledge of disciplinary science.
The Veterinary Public Health Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), a regional information center in food safety from animal origin and zoonoses, organized the symposium based on local and international academic activities to generate innovative knowledge, exchange experiences and network communication between expert and academic scientists in food safety and zoonoses, EcoHealth/OneHealth for further academic cooperation and researches. Consequently, we highly expect the international academic cooperation and new knowledge to improve the analysis and surveillance system.
There were 97 participants from academic institutions, govenment, and private sectors from 14 countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Germany, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Protugal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam) attended the symposium.
