The 21st International Society for Animal Hygiene Conference (ISAH 2024) was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from 18–20 September 2024 under the theme “One Health in Action – Innovations in Health, Welfare and Environment for Sustainable Animal Production.” The event brought together around 150 participants from across the globe, featuring keynote speeches, oral presentations, and poster sessions on animal hygiene, welfare, sustainable livestock systems, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health integration.

ISAH 2024 was jointly organized by Chiang Mai University, the International Society for Animal Hygiene, and the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN). The conference provided a platform for veterinarians, scientists, policymakers, and students to exchange knowledge on global challenges such as pandemic preparedness, sustainable livestock production, antimicrobial resistance, and animal welfare.

Highlights included:

  • Keynote sessions on pandemic preparedness, livestock production challenges, microbiomes in One Health, AMR data generation, and sustainable farming practices.

  • Scientific program covering animal welfare, disaster management, infectious and transboundary diseases, innovation in animal production, sustainable livestock systems, and environmental health.

  • Networking opportunities to strengthen global and regional collaboration in veterinary public health and One Health.

The conference concluded with strong momentum to advance research, policy, and capacity building for sustainable animal production and public health worldwide.
