The Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, as a working group of the Global Health Project under the Participatory One Health Digital Disease Detection (PODD) Program between Thailand and Lao PDR, organized the “Training for the Trainers on Early Detection and Rapid Response to Stop Epizootics and Pandemics Using the Community-Based Surveillance System: Participatory One Health Disease Detection Application (PODD)” on 3–4 October 2023 in Khammuan Province, Lao PDR.
The training provided an overview of the PODD application, a digital tool designed for reporting and tracking animal diseases at the local, district, and provincial levels. By equipping trainers with the necessary knowledge and skills, this initiative aims to strengthen community-based surveillance systems in Lao PDR, ensuring quicker responses to unusual animal health events and potential zoonotic disease outbreaks.

This activity represents an important step in advancing cross-border One Health collaboration and highlights the role of digital innovation in improving regional preparedness for emerging animal and public health threats.
