The Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with the Colombo Plan for Cooperative Economic and Social Development and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), successfully hosted the Online International Training Course on “Food Safety and Security from Animal Origin: Strengthening the Network for Sustainability” from 7–25 August 2023.

The opening ceremony was a distinguished occasion, honored by the presence of:

  • Prof. Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, President of Chiang Mai University, who presided over the ceremony.

  • Lt. Sorawud Preededilok, Minister attached to TICA, who gave a warm welcome address to participants.

  • Prof. Dr. Korakot Nganvongpanit, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, CMU, who delivered the overview report.

 

The first session of the training was enriched by a keynote lecture from Dr. Thanawat Tiensin, Chairperson of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Agencies in Rome, who spoke on “Overview of Global Food Security and Food Safety.”

This international training program provided participants with valuable opportunities to strengthen technical skills, exchange knowledge, and foster collaborative networks to address the challenges of ensuring safe and sustainable food of animal origin.
