On 25 July 2023, the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University, organized a training course titled “Food Safety and Sanitation for Food Handlers in the Food Safety: CMU Street Food Project.” The event was held at the Chiang Mai Grand View Hotel, Chiang Mai.

The training was conducted under the Food Safety: CMU Project, which focuses on improving food hygiene and safety standards in street food around Chiang Mai University. The objectives were:

  • To provide food stall entrepreneurs with practical knowledge of hygiene and food safety.

  • To promote better practices for food handling and preparation.

  • To develop prototypes of hygienic food stalls for safer cooking environments.

The opening ceremony was honored by:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ronnapop Uerpairojkit, Assistant to the President of Chiang Mai University, who presided over the event.

  • Mr. Phisut Pisutthakul, Secretary to the Mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality, who gave a welcome address.

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Warangkhana Chaisowwong, Director of VPHCAP, who delivered the project report.

This initiative reflects CMU’s commitment to supporting local communities, strengthening public health, and setting a model for hygienic street food practices that can be applied more widely across the city.
