

The Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand, hosted the online opening ceremony of the International Training Course on “Food Safety and Security from Animal Origin: Strengthening the Network for Sustainability” on 1 August 2022.
We were greatly honored to welcome Professor Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmong, President of Chiang Mai University, who presided as chairman of the opening ceremony. We also had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Hataichanok Siriwadhanakul, Director of the Human Resources Development Cooperation Division, representing the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who warmly welcomed the participants on behalf of the organizers.


Following the ceremony, participants were honored by a keynote lecture from Dr. Thanawat Tiensin, Chairperson of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Agencies in Rome. His presentation, titled “Overview of Global Food Security and Food Safety,” provided valuable insights into the challenges and strategies shaping the future of sustainable food systems worldwide.

The training course was conducted from 1–19 August 2022, bringing together participants from multiple countries to build capacity, exchange knowledge, and strengthen networks for sustainable food safety and security practices.
