On 26 March 2022, the students in the Master of Science in Veterinary Public Health (International Program) took part in a field visit to the Tung Fah Bod Market (Cattle Market) in San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province. This visit was an invaluable opportunity for students to observe and understand the application of veterinary public health regulations in real-world settings, specifically those concerning the trade of animals and animal products.
During the trip, students gained insights into:
-
The role of veterinary regulations in ensuring animal health and welfare.
-
How surveillance and inspection systems are applied at animal markets.
-
The importance of proper control measures to safeguard public health, food safety, and disease prevention.
This hands-on experience allowed students to connect classroom learning with field practices, reinforcing their knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their impact on both local and regional animal trade systems.
At VPHCAP, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. Field visits like this provide students with practical exposure to the challenges and realities of veterinary public health work in Thailand.
Come and join our program to explore more unique learning opportunities in Chiang Mai and beyond!
