The Veterinary Public Health and Biotechnology (VPH-Biotech) Global Consortium launched the International Congress on Pathogens at the Human-Animal Interface (ICOPHAI) to address pressing challenges and capacity-building needs in global health. The congress brings together prestigious organizations and universities to share knowledge and strengthen interdisciplinary research through the One Health approach.

The 2015 congress included a special session on Ebola, MERS, and other emerging zoonotic viral diseases, focusing on how to operationalize One Health by fostering collaboration among physicians, veterinarians, and ecologists to monitor and control public health threats.
We are especially grateful to the College of Veterinary Medicine and The Ohio State University for their invaluable support, particularly Professor Dr. Wondwossen Gebreyes, Director of Global Health Programs and Chair of ICOPHAI 2015. Building on the success of the previous congress, which attracted more than 760 registrants from over 50 countries and involved nearly 200 research, academic, regulatory, and intergovernmental institutions, ICOPHAI 2015 promised—and delivered—an exceptional opportunity for scientific communities, faculty, and students. It served as a vital platform for advancing education, management, and research on infectious diseases at the human–animal–ecosystem interface.
