It was a great honor and privilege to host “The 10th Anniversary of the Veterinary Public Health Centre for Asia Pacific” symposium. This event served as a vital platform for academic collaboration in our field. In today’s increasingly globalized world, the emergence and rapid spread of infectious and zoonotic diseases have underscored the expanding and demanding roles of veterinarians. Our profession has shifted toward a new paradigm, with broader responsibilities aimed at addressing complex and interconnected health challenges.

Recognizing these issues, the Veterinary Public Health Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP) was established in 2003 under the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University. Since its inception, our mission has been to serve as an international academic and collaborative hub in the fields of food safety, zoonoses, and epidemiology.

The symposium brought together 165 participants representing academic institutions, government agencies, the private sector, NGOs, and MVPH alumni from 18 countries: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam. The scientific program featured 10 invited lectures, 36 oral presentations, and 41 poster presentations.

The Master of Veterinary Public Health (MVPH) program was established through cooperation between Chiang Mai University and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. Since then, four cohorts of alumni have graduated and made significant contributions to the field. We sincerely acknowledge that the program’s success would not have been possible without the strong credibility and recognition of Freie Universität Berlin.

The symposium was not only a celebration of our 10th anniversary but also an opportunity to highlight our achievements, foster the exchange of innovative knowledge, and strengthen international collaboration. This special event was made possible through the dedication and efforts of our directors, professors, staff, and supporters.
