On 23 June 2026, the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangporn Pichpol, Director of VPHCAP, assigned Dr. Thanaporn Eiamsam-ang, Lecturer at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, to serve as a speaker in the Food Safety Awareness Project for the Livestock Sector under the national policy "One District, One Local Administrative Organization, One Slaughterhouse", at Namthong Nan Hotel, Nan Province.

The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical competencies of slaughterhouse operators, local government officials, and related stakeholders in implementing safe slaughter practices, strengthening food safety management, and preventing zoonotic diseases throughout the slaughter process. Participants were introduced to key concepts including ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection, hygienic slaughter procedures, cross-contamination prevention, meat inspection, and surveillance of zoonotic pathogens such as Streptococcus suis, reinforcing science-based approaches to public health protection.
This initiative reflects VPHCAP's commitment to translating research and scientific expertise into practical solutions that support local communities and strengthen food safety systems. By bridging laboratory-based knowledge with field implementation, VPHCAP continues to promote safer livestock production, healthier communities, and the One Health approach through sustainable capacity building across Thailand.
