Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veerasak Punyapornwithaya, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University, was invited by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) to serve as an expert speaker at the 34th Conference of the WOAH Regional Commission for Asia and the Pacific, held 22–25 September 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Dr. Veerasak contributed to Technical Item II: “Build a joint TADs prevention and control system in the Asia–Pacific region to strengthen regional preparedness and resilience through cross-border cooperation, including surveillance, early detection, disease response, border inspection, and the use of digital innovations.” His presentation emphasized practical approaches for coordinated surveillance, rapid detection, and effective response, alongside the role of digital tools and border measures in mitigating transboundary animal diseases (TADs).

The Conference of the Regional Commission for Asia and the Pacific—organized by WOAH—is a key forum for Members and observers from public-sector agencies to discuss animal health and welfare policy, food safety, vaccine development and use in animals, control of transboundary animal diseases, and updates to disease reporting and information exchange mechanisms to enhance coordination across the region.
